1.  CONCORDANCE - Strong's, Young's or Cruden's

 

2. INTERLINEAR TESTAMENT - it parallels the English text with the original Greek or Hebrew

 

3.   MODERN TRANSLATIONS - Parallel Bible

              Amplified Bible

              New American Standard Bible

              New International Version

              New King James

 

4.  BIBLE DICTIONARY - it gives the definition of certain Bible terms, explaining them in light of Bible culture. Eerdman's and the Zondervan Pictorial are good.

 

5.   BIBLE HANDBOOK - concise coverage of the Bible as a whole, also giving a general outline and commentary of chapter highlights. Eerdman's and Halley's are good.

 

6.   BIBLE ENCYCLOPEDIA - more or less a more extensive Bible dictionary

- International Standard Bible Encylopedia, or Zondervan's

 

7. TOPICAL BIBLE - a number of topics listed in alphabetical order giving a number of scriptural references dealing with each topic.

 

8. BIBLE ATLAS - simply an atlas of Bible geography

 

9.   COMMENTARIES - the comments of one or more "bible scholars" on the Scripture

- Adam Clarke, Matthew Henry, Pulpit Commentary, etc.
